We pre-authorise card payments and reserve the funds, but don’t usually settle the transaction until dispatch. This allows us to amend orders more easily.

We have 28 days to make the settlement before the payment expires, but card issuers sometimes show a refund before this date.

This practice is not helpful, but it’s what they do.
